Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives with support from the police have arrested a suspected member of a drug syndicate based in this town.
Atty. Jacquelyn De Guzman, PDEA regional director, said the PDEA agents have arrested the suspect identified as Christian Araneta. The suspect is an alleged member of a drug syndicate based here.
Araneta was arrested in a drug sting April 26 at around 4:45 p.m. at Purok Makugihon, Barangay Tirso Babiera, this town.
Seized from the possession of the suspect, according to the PDEA regional chief, were some P1,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” packed in two plastic sachets, P500 marked money, a cellular phone, and a motorcycle without a registered plate.
The suspect is also in the drug watch list of Ipil police.
The suspect will face a case for violation of Sections 5 and Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs. (jm)
