The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is ready to implement the P6-million Government Internship Program (GIP) in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The DOLE provincial official has to deploy some 300 fresh graduates to various government offices starting October 1.

“We will expose them to government service. They will be deployed to the local government unit, or if they have a background on medical courses, they can be assigned at the Department of Health or in health centers,” said Imelda Gatinao, DOLE provincial director, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency.

Gatinao said their office will deploy in schools and other agencies according to their competencies.

The internship program aims to give the new graduates an on-site work experience for the next three months.

Each intern will receive a P316 daily stipend.

The program is part of the KABATAAN 2000 under Executive Order No. 139. It aims to provide the young workers of the opportunity to serve the public. (Karlo Antonio Manaytay-Mindanao Sun)
