A female suicide bomber had attacked Sunday afternoon a military checkpoint in Indanan, Sulu.
Major Gen. Corelito Vinluan, commander of the Army’s 11th Division, said an unidentified bomber had blown herself near a military checkpoint in Barangay Kajatian at around 5:45 p.m.
The initial report said the government troops had conducted a checkpoint in the area when “attacked by an unidentified female suicide bomber.”
There was no casualty from the government side.
The military had expected that jihadists will claim the attack as it was in the past.
At present, the Western Mindanao Command said there are seven foreign terrorists monitored in Sulu. They are part of no less than 60 foreign terrorists belonging to the ISIS network in Mindanao.
A month ago, two suicide bombers had also blown themselves in a military checkpoint at Km 2 in Indanan.
The attack had killed several military personnel and civilians, including the suspects.
As expected, ISIS had immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. (Ely Dumaboc-Mindanao Sun/ Featured Image: Pixabay)
