Davao City – An official of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said some 13 small, micro, and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Mindanao are set to participate in the 16th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) next month in Kuala Lumpur.
These Mindanao SMEs will be joined by other 17 SMEs from Luzon and Visayas, Amhed Jeoffrey J. Datukan, development manager officer of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), said.
MIHAS is organized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
The halal showcase, which will run April 3-6, will also be participated in by other countries. It had attracted 21,000 visitors in 2018, which netted RM1.52 billion (P19.4 billion) in terms of negotiated trade value.
The MinDA official said this is to “help our SMEs to tap the export market and present potential investment areas in the Philippines for Malaysian investors.”
These SMEs, he added, are supported by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). (kvm)
