Representative Sharky Palma has asked the Land Registration Authority (LRA) to implement the law establishing the office of the Register of Deeds in Zamboanga Sibugay.
In a letter to LRA Administrator Renato Bermejo, the first district congressman urged for the appointment of an officer to head the Register of Deeds and the complement staff.
He also asked for “the transfer of all equipment and supplies exclusively purchased and used” for the province.
This equipment and supplies still remain at the Register of Deeds in Zamboanga del Sur.
The Congress had passed Republic Act 10686 in 2015 creating the Register of Deeds in the province.
Department of Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay Villar had called the attention of the LRA.
The DoJ undersecretary in her letter to LRA asked the administrator to coordinate with the congressman regarding the request. The LRA is under the supervision of the DoJ.
The office of the register of deeds keeps the record of all real estate deeds and other land titles.
Palma said implementing the law establishing the office would “greatly benefit the people of the province.” (Mindanao Sun)
